Trip to Virginia

So Brandon & I got to go to Virginia for a week . . . nevermind that it was work related, but we had a wonderful time away, hanging out at coffee shops at night and seeing the sights over there after the classes were done. Here's a few photos:

A momument to those first setters at Ft. Jamestowne . . .

A cannon at Fort Victory . . .

Oldest brick in America at Jamestowne Settlement . . .

James Fort - the oldest permanent settlement in America, dating back to 1607. As you can see from the tarp in the background, they are still excavating artifacts! Archeologists found the original location of the fort in the 1990s by piecing together clues. And they have been finding thousands of artificts since! There is a whole musuem full of them . . . And in case you were wondering (because I was), the Pilgrims came over a few years later and settled farther north . . .

Prom

The boutineer . . . such difficulties - had to get Dad to help with that one!

What a cute couple . . . Kayle is living it up and making the most of his time left here! I heard through the grapevine that she asked him to Sadie Hawkins, which is at Six Flags and he said yes, if she would ride all the roller coasters. Well, when she said yes to that, he got bold and asked her to Prom.
The wrist corsage . . . so much easier!

Valentine's Day in Elementary School

Party in 3rd grade . . .

Kindergarten party - It's all about the food . . .

Check out my long line of Valentine's . . . if you could see closer, you would notice that they are sorted by ones with candy, ones with tatoos, etc.

Oh yeah - it's my candy iPods . . . they play cool tunes . . . crunch, crunch, crunch as I eat the candy conversation hearts . . . by the way, kindergarten did a graph with hearts and did you know that out of all the colors, green was the color that had the most hearts and it tastes like lime (in case you're wondering)!

Homecoming 2009

Waiting for his name to be called . . . will he start tonight ? . . .
A little video announcing the starting line up . . .

Waiting for the free shot - a good time for Mom to take a photo - it isn't blurry!

Kayle taking a free shot (he made it as well as 3 others that night)

Homecoming Royalty . . . the Juniors

The prince says, "Sorry I'm a little sweaty - we just finished our game, but thankfully I'm on Varisty basketball, so I don't have to dress up!"

Annual Tahoe Ski Trip with "The Brothers"

We spent the weekend in Tahoe with "The Brothers" as they are affectionately named by Brooke & Gavin. It was a beautiful weekend, cooler than last year and we got dumped on the last night with 18 inches of new snow! Needless to say, after 2 days of skiing, we just played in the snow the last day and it took awhile to get home with the roads just being plowed.

Here's Brooke & Gavin in the snow out front of the cabin!

Gavin being goofy!

Brooke being silly!

Trent and Vance in the snow.

Kayle and Gavin in the loft playing PS2 racing games.

Some of the rest of us downstairs - eating! You work up quite an appetite skiing!

Shoveling out the snow.

More pictures of the beautiful snow.

The brothers on the slopes.

The brothers on the lift.

Looking back at the base and Lake Tahoe in the background.

Need a hand Kayle? He actually did very well for his first time snowboarding and by the second day was hardly on his rear end! Wish I could've had some video of him - he picks things up so quickly.

Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Kim & Kayle on their way up!

Oh no - Trent's down . . . HA! HA! At least this year he was just faking it!

Our Prince Charming . . .

I picked Kayle up from school today and my friend congratulated him! For what I ask . . .

Kayle was voted by his classmates as Homecoming Prince of the Junior class! So I thought you would enjoy a photo of him from when he turned 13 and then a recent one three and half years later:

Great Game Kayle!

Getting introduced for the game!

Here he is, Kayle Baker, number 33, getting ready for the rebound.

Kayle scored 8 points during last night's game - here's a video of one of the shots. He was on fire! I missed the video of the most beautiful lay-up but managed to get a few video shots.

Here's the assist . . . And below is what happens to Gavin by half time of the game!
